Women's Health in the workplace
Evidence from the Women's Health Strategy for England has shown that only 35% of women feel comfortable talking about their health concerns at work. And only 50% feel that their workplace is supportive of their health needs. The study also found that 76% of women who have a health condition or disability feel stressed about that condition and 67% said it had impacted their mental health. The study also found that:
26% said it impacted their earnings
25% said it affected their opportunities for promotion
22% said it meant they stopped work earlier than they had planned
Our women's health courses are created by practising medical professionals and specifically aimed at education within the workplace. The content is created for all genders and we focus on supporting and developing understanding of common women's health issues and how those issues can impact women at work.
We understand that companies want courses aligned with your core values as a business. We are happy to work with you to ensure that the courses we build provide the following benefits to your team
Knowledge, understanding and awareness of common women’s health conditions with the aim of increased empathy for colleagues who are experiencing the health conditions we cover
Raises awareness of health conditions for women who could be unaware they have a condition. Increased awareness can reduce risk through support, prevention and early treatment. This is also extremely useful for partners or family members.
Signposting to any of your company policies and support so that anyone suffering can get the help they need.
Help you provide lifelong learning for your team and giving them a level of training not available in most workplaces.
Help ensure your workplace is inclusive and equal, recognising that both your team and their family members may experience the conditions we are covering.
Because the courses are created by practicing medical professionals, you can reassure your team that they are getting the most up to date medical information that follows guidelines set out by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence. We also only offer proven information, not advice or opinions. This ensures our courses are not biased towards specific treatment ideas or medical approaches.

Kensa Health will work with your team to make sure the courses we create are right for your team. This includes the selection of topics and a preview of each course to ensure it meets your team development aims, tone, and learning style. We are also happy to create custom courses to deal with issues specific to your industry, such as workplace safety considerations or training for teams that work with women such as carers, coaches or fitness trainers.
Here is a sample of some of the women's health in the workplace topics we can cover.
With a quarter of women saying they leave their jobs because of a lack of support in this, it is a critical topic for every employer. During this module we consider the different types and stages of menopause, including perimenopause and early menopause. We look at the symptoms and how best to support employees and co-workers around the menopause.
Women & Cardiovascular Disease
Heart attacks and strokes are the #1 cause of death for women. This session covers risk factors, the biology and why women are 50% more like to have a missed diagnosis. We also look at how lifestyle can reduce the risks of heart disease, strokes as well as other serious conditions such as peripheral vascular disease and vascular dementia.
This session will consider common menstrual disorders including: endometriosis, fibroids and polycystic ovarian syndrome. We cover what these are, how to minimise their impact on daily life and in the workplace. We also suggest ways to speak about these conditions, as we know these topics are challenging to bring up in a work environment.
Fertility, Pregnancy & Baby Loss
Our course goes beyond the standard conversations about maternity rights and parental leave. In this session we cover common fertility issues, pregnancy related problems such as morning sickness, blood sugar and blood pressure problems, and the sensitive subject of baby loss that affects 1 in 4 pregnancies. We consider the impact of these issues, how best to support colleagues going through these difficult situations as well as during a healthy pregnancy.
